Job description

Salary:

Program Management Solutions is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our growing team. This is a remote position that requires extensive travel and requires that the candidate possess an active DOD secret clearance.


Position Summary:

The Field Service Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting the operational readiness and effectiveness of deployed military medical units. This includes the successful deployment, configuration, and sustainment of personnel, equipment, and Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) systems in dynamic, austere, or combat environments. The role requires a unique combination of technical proficiency, logistical agility, and a deep understanding of military deployment procedures and healthcare operations in theater.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deployment Support Coordinate and execute the deployment and redeployment of IM/IT systems in support of joint operational missions, including initial system setup, software installation, configuration, and operational testing in theater environments.
  • Technical Expertise Provide on-the-ground troubleshooting and Tier II/III support for electronic health record (EHR) systems and web-based medical applications, ensuring minimal disruption to mission-critical clinical workflows.
  • Training & User Support Deliver just-in-time training and technical guidance to clinical, administrative, and technical personnel, enhancing local system adoption and operational proficiency.
  • System Lifecycle Engagement Participate in the full System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process, from requirements gathering and analysis to design, integration, validation, and ongoing maintenance of medical IT solutions.
  • Security & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to DoD cybersecurity requirements and privacy regulations, particularly concerning the handling of sensitive personal health information (PHI) in both connected and disconnected environments.
  • Logistical Coordination Ensure timely and secure transportation, installation, and inventory management of hardware/software assets across operational areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) electronic Health Records (EHR) and web-based medical applications in both garrison and deployed settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both the functional (clinical workflows) and technical (systems architecture, integration) aspects of these applications.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong experience in all phases of the SDLC, including system design, development, integration, and control, as well as user testing and post-deployment support.
  • Deep understanding of privacy protection principles and HIPAA compliance, particularly as applied to data flow and interoperability in integrated health systems.

Certifications:

  • Must hold a minimum of IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (e.g., Security+).

Personal Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with minimal oversight.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Travel & Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. passport and be willing to travel internationally up to 75% of the time, often on short notice.
  • Must meet all medical and fitness standards for deployment to austere and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Operational Medicine Experience:

  • Direct experience supporting healthcare delivery in military operational environments, including but not limited to:
    • Field and Combat Support Hospitals
    • Expeditionary Medical Facilities (EMF)
    • Amphibious assault ships and hospital ships (e.g., USNS Comfort, USNS Mercy)
    • Aeromedical evacuation missions and mobile medical units

Military Familiarity:

  • Prior military service or experience working closely with Service members across the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps.
