Looking for a mission driven collaborative workplace? Join the CARF team as a Staff Accountant! In this role, you will apply principles of accounting and finance to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports; develop, interpret, and implement complex financial and accounting concepts or techniques for financial planning and control; and perform the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts and document business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital and prepare balance sheet, profit-and-loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Supports year-end audit preparation and completion by reviewing accounts and working closely with audit staff to provide information and answer questions.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Participates in review and implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Prepares and completes monthly account reconciliations, investigates variances, and resolves discrepancies.
  • Processes inventory: including reconciling balances, recording complimentary items, and year-end reconciliations/accruals.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reconciles and files state sales tax returns and updates sales tax software with new inventory items to ensure accurate tax calculations.
  • Processes project account reporting and analysis for Education and Training events.
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Processes collections, including sending payment reminders, coordinating payment plans, and escalating accounts when necessary.
  • Provides backup support for the Accounts Receivable Coordinator as necessary.
  • Adheres to ethical principles and company policies regarding the safeguarding of restricted and/or confidential information obtained as part of Finance department activities.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The market entry salary for this full-time, non-exempt position is $64,685 annually USD, payable semi-monthly.  Actual starting salary is commensurate with education and experience. WORK LOCATION

Based in Tucson, AZ, this position is not eligible for relocation assistance or full-time remote work. However, this position may be eligible to work remotely up to 2 days per week.

The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred; minimum three (3) years of progressively higher-level professional accountability in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various accounting disciplines such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, audit, and general accounting including reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel; working knowledge of Power BI a plus. Knowledge, understanding of, and ability to effectively utilize various accounting software applications.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Does not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status, including but not limited to H-1B visa status.
