Job description

VetsEZ is seeking an InterSystems IRIS Developer - Senior to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Data Migration and Syndication (DMS) Support Services for Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM).
This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution and modernization of VX130, a critical VA healthcare data platform supporting enterprise data extraction and migration initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with senior technical leadership and subject matter experts to develop, maintain, and enhance InterSystems IRIS solutions while gaining deep expertise in VA healthcare systems and data architectures.
The candidate must reside within the continental United States.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using InterSystems IRIS and ObjectScript.
  • Enhance and modernize VX130 data extraction and transformation processes.
  • Analyze VistA data structures, FileMan files, globals, and metadata.
  • Develop IRIS classes, APIs, utilities, and automation solutions.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and system integrations.
  • Troubleshoot application, database, and data processing issues.
  • Support IRIS Mirror, backup/recovery, and high-availability environments.
  • Optimize IRIS application and database performance.
  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and development activities.
  • Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and design artifacts.
  • Work with InterSystems support to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to automation, CI/CD, and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Support production deployments, upgrades, and sustainment activities.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing applications using InterSystems Cache and/or InterSystems IRIS.
  • 3+ years of experience developing with ObjectScript.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and system integrations.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex software applications and database systems.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs systems.
  • Experience with VistA, FileMan, MUMPS, or other VA healthcare technologies.
  • Experience supporting InterSystems IRIS Mirror environments and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with Linux administration and scripting.
  • Experience working with healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, XML, JSON, and REST services.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Health/Cerner integration efforts.
  • Interest in technical leadership and long-term growth within enterprise healthcare platforms.
