Role description:

Arcadis seeks a Network/ITS Technician with a wide variety of experience to join the team in Louisiana. In this role you will assist our growing ITS / Traffic engineering group on various projects across the state of Louisiana and possibly other states in the Gulf Region. 

Role accountabilities:

As an ITS Technician you will be responsible for the integration and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and network devices, including CCTV systems, dynamic message signs, travel time readers, and vehicle detection devices. You will also handle the configuration, installation, and upkeep of critical communications systems, such as Layer 2/3 network switches, cellular routers, fiber optic networks, and wireless radio systems. Additionally, you will troubleshoot Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) issues to ensure seamless connectivity and system performance across the assigned region.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. They will prioritize health and safety in all aspects of their role, adhering to best practices and regulations while maintaining awareness of potential hazards in outdoor and high-traffic areas. This role requires a willingness to travel throughout the Southeast United States and work in outdoor environments, including major transportation routes. Candidates should be comfortable working near traffic and at heights greater than 10 feet. Additionally, they should have an understanding of, or a willingness to learn, CCTV systems, communications network infrastructure, and electrical systems to support various project needs. Experience with Intelligent Transportation System Devices including, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Dynamic Messaging Signs (DMS), Vehicle Detection Devices and others will be preferred but can be taught for more junior candidates.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 4 or more years of experience in specialist/technical area of work such as ethernet switches, wireless radio's, fiber optics, and CCTV systems. 

Preferred Experience or Certifications-

  • Working with aerial equipment including manlifts and bucket trucks
  • Tower Safety and Rescue Certifications or the willingness to obtain after hire
  • NFPA 70 Electrical or the willingness to obtain after hire
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician or the willingness to obtain after hire
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Fiber Optic and/or Wireless Communications
