Ameresco has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager to join our South Construction Operations team based in Phoenix, AZ. This person will be responsible for leading Commercial solar and battery installation projects as well as complex Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) and DesignBuild construction projects from development through commissioning. We are seeking a dynamic individual to oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensures projects meet contractual, financial, and performance obligations. NOTE: Remote based candidates may be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead full lifecycle management of EPC and DesignBuild projects, including scope development, construction oversight, commissioning, and measurement & verification (M&V).
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, risk profiles, and performance guarantee metrics to ensure contractual compliance and profitability.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
  • Directly manage vendors and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality control and project delivery on time and within budget, while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Schedule management: update schedules to reflect current information, monitor critical path activities, and track outstanding tasks.
  • Manage and mentor Assistant project managers, construction managers and project managers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building owners, facility managers, and external partners in the public, institutional, industrial, government, and commercial sectors.
  • Facilitate project meetings, progress updates, and decisionmaking processes.
  • Build longterm client relationships that support repeat business and program expansion.
  • Review and manage engineering design, submittal, and construction document approvals.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Lead commissioning activities and ensure systems perform designed.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and costcontrol strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Finance, Construction, and O&M Services teams to satisfy all requirements for commercial operation and financial close.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of project management experience in commercial scale solar and battery EPC, with additional experience in ESCO, and/or DesignBuild construction preferred.
  • Proven track record managing complex mechanical, electrical, controls and renewable energy projects.
  • Valid Drivers' License in good standing, issued by resident state is required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, lighting, controls, renewables, water conservation).
  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CEM, CMVP, or LEED AP are preferred.
  • Experience with public sector procurement (K12, higher ed, municipal, federal) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of utility incentive programs and financing structures for energy and renewable energy projects is preferred.
  • Experience with energy modeling, savings calculations, and M&V protocols (IPMVP) is preferred.
