Job description

The Sr. Access Technology Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, supporting, and optimizing enterprise-grade access networks including DOCSIS and FTTH environments. This role serves as a technical leader, providing front-line support and consultation to clients while ensuring network performance, stability, and scalability. The Sr. Access Network Engineer collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, and Client Services teams to deliver world-class connectivity solutions that support business growth and client satisfaction.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial and ongoing remote support for network systems deployment and optimization.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for access-related infrastructure issues.
  • Design, configure, and deploy access solutions in live network environments.
  • Upgrade and maintain access networks to ensure top-tier performance and reliability.
  • Assist clients with installation and configuration of network systems, including troubleshooting and remote issue resolution.
  • Provide vendor management, technology evaluations, and contract support.
  • Monitor and report on network health, capacity, trends, and performance.
  • Document, diagnose, and resolve network problems in collaboration with client teams.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on network capacity, health, and performance.
  • Communicate project and issue status to stakeholders and service partners effectively and on time.
  • Champion automation practices, system resiliency, and continuous improvement in network architecture.
  • Lead network process documentation, process improvement recommendations, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning for network infrastructure.
  • Establish best practices and policies for access network systems.
  • Provide after-hours emergency support for remote clients, including ISPs.
  • Drive strategic implementation of technical changes to optimize the existing. Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning for network infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability and minimal disruption during service outages.
  • Prepare comprehensive department documentation to support organizational processes.
  • Contribute to collaborative sessions with operations teams to align goals and enhance cross-functional communication.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, or related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 3+ years of experience with network and infrastructure technologies (Jr. role requires 1 year).
  • Strong understanding of troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Current CCNA / CCENT certification or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, firewalls, routers, switching, TCP/IP, and RF coverage.
  • Thorough knowledge of access layer protocols (FDB, ARP, LACP).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to travel as required by the business.
