The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Office of Inspector General Division.

This position is responsible for surveying health care laboratories certified with Medicare and Medicaid to assure compliance with federal regulations. Compliance with federal regulations allows the facility to bill Medicare and Medicaid for services rendered. Responsibilities include conducting on-site survey of Medicare-Medicaid certified health care laboratories to determine compliance with federal regulations, communicating noncompliance issues with key personnel, and conducting follow-up surveys to ensure deficient practice has been resolved.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

• Basic healthcare laboratory knowledge.

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

• Ability to interpret regulations and make decisions based on those regulations.

• Ability to identify problems, develop and implement solutions.

• Meet minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in physical, biological science, or a related degree.

  • Two years of work experience in a laboratory setting.

  • State of Montana Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) license is required or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.

  • Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis however, Montana license is required.
