Overview

The Business Intelligence Software Engineer I is an entry level role designed for individuals who are passionate about data and analytics. This position supports the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions that enable data driven decision making across the organization. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail oriented, and eager to grow as a BI and data professional.

Qualifications

  • This is a remote role but employees MUST LIVE IN UTAH OR IDAHO 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience in software development, business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics roles
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including writing queries, joins, aggregations, and basic performance tuning
  • Familiarity with relational databases, preferably SQL Server
  • Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts, including fact tables, dimensions, and ETL or ELT processes
  • Experience with or exposure to BI reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, or similar platforms
  • Demonstrated skills in data visualization, including selecting appropriate chart types and visual designs to clearly communicate insights and support sound decision making
  • Ability to read, understand, and modify existing code and data pipelines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and BI best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft BI technologies such as SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, or Microsoft Fabric
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or similar data warehouse solutions
  • Basic experience with data integration, ETL tools, or scripting languages such as T SQL or Python
  • Understanding of source control systems such as Git
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development environments
