The Business Analyst (BA) position at the Texas Education Agency works on multiple projects that support the mission of improving outcomes for Texas students, with a focus on major system enhancements, rewrite efforts, and the agency's CRM project.
This position will perform advanced, senior-level business analysis work. The business analyst serves as the conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow. The BA will be involved throughout the entire software development life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, the focus shifts toward managing the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements, including enhancements post-implementation.
Essential Functions:
Elicitation & Analysis: Analyzes user needs, business processes, pain points, and system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems. Elicits requirements using JAD sessions, interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis.
Requirements Writing & Visual Output: Transforms elicited information into business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, software requirements specifications, wireframes, and mockups. Uses standard templates and clear, concise natural language.
BA Best Practices & Mentorship: Acts as a mentor to peers and colleagues, disseminating best practices and proactively seeking training opportunities.
Using TEA Tools Effectively: Utilizes TEA tools such as Jira and Modern Requirements to manage change control, participate in the SDLC, and track and communicate requirements status.
CRM Project Support: Provides dedicated support for the implementation of the agency's CRM project, ensuring requirements are captured, managed, and fulfilled to meet program and stakeholder needs.
Remote, with the option to work up to 80% - 100% remotely. The working position is Hybrid - On Site and Telework.
