Job description

  • This position is primarily remote but may require occasional onsite work in Corvallis, Or.

  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Develops, implements and oversees marketing and communications strategies for assigned primary and secondary level service lines to achieve Samaritan Health Services’ marketing and communications objectives. Works to optimize brand awareness, support business goals and growth opportunities as outlined in Samaritan Health Services strategic priorities. Applies expertise to set measurable objectives, develops and executes project plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Communicates effectively with stakeholders to ensure quality and completion of activities on time and on budget. Scope of marketing and communications support is inclusive of marketing, public and community relations, and internal and external communications.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Marketing and Communications Department is an award-winning team that provides strategic counseling and planning services, including the coordination and implementation of marketing, public relations and internal communications programs and activities systemwide. The scope of the department includes strategic marketing and communications (traditional and digital), branding counseling and development, graphic design and videography. The staff also represents Samaritan Health Services in public and media relations efforts and in the capacity of public information officer for emergency management-related events.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field required.
    • Four (4) years of professional digital and traditional marketing, communications and/or public relations experience including media relations, project management, strategic planning and branding required.
    • Experience and/or training in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher) required.
    • Experience writing in AP Style preferred.
    • National accreditation or certification equivalent to APR, CPM and/or Lean preferred.
    • National Health Care Incident Command System certification preferred.
    • Experience or training in health care and/or health insurance plans marketing and communications preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of marketing strategy and sales techniques to show, promote and sell products or services. Ability to understand the organization’s strategic priorities and translate those needs into profitable objectives. Ability to employ project management techniques and principals to implement integrated marketing and public relations campaigns and internal communications initiatives.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including copy editing, report writing and public speaking. Ability to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members and tactfully discuss issues.
    • Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
    • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple fast-moving projects with changing priorities.
    • Ability to work effectively independently and autonomously or as part of an integrated team. Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
    • Understanding of crisis communications principles as it may relate to public relations situations and emergency management.
    • Understanding of graphic design, production and print processes. Understanding of web technologies (e.g. social media, web design, SEO, SEM and Google Analytics). In-depth knowledge of CRM software and content management systems.
