Job description

Data Platform Engineer | Remote
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will help design, support, and evolve the data infrastructure that enables large scale environmental research for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, database systems, and cloud operations, focused on ensuring that critical environmental data is reliably ingested, transformed, and delivered across modern cloud and hybrid environments. You will work closely with federal stakeholders and technical teams to translate data orchestration needs into scalable, automated solutions. You will manage PostgreSQL databases, optimize SQL based workflows, and support Python driven automation and CI/CD pipelines to ensure data systems remain stable, efficient, and production ready. If you are motivated by solving complex data flow challenges and supporting mission driven science through modern cloud and automation practices, this is an opportunity to directly shape the data systems that enable environmental science nationwide.

  • Comfortable using AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS to deploy, manage, and scale cloud-based applications and databases
Desired:
  • AWS and ArcGIS certifications demonstrating expertise in cloud and geospatial technologies
