Remote Composting information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Composting Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Composting Specialist, you need a solid understanding of composting processes, waste management, and environmental regulations, often supported by relevant experience or training in sustainability. Familiarity with remote monitoring tools, composting management software, and data reporting systems is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for coordinating with teams and clients remotely. These skills ensure effective composting operations, regulatory compliance, and successful collaboration in a distributed work environment.

Remote Composting involves managing composting projects, often focusing on organic waste processing and environmental sustainability. In contrast, Remote Waste Management Specialists handle broader waste reduction and disposal strategies, often working on policies and data analysis. Both roles require environmental certifications but differ in their work environment and industry focus.

What is remote composting?

Remote composting refers to the practice of managing and processing organic waste—such as food scraps and yard waste—for compost production from a location other than where the waste is generated. This often involves coordinating pick-up or drop-off services that collect compostable materials and transport them to a central composting facility. Remote composting is popular among businesses, communities, and individuals who lack space or resources for on-site composting. It helps reduce landfill waste, supports soil health, and can be part of broader sustainability initiatives.

What unique challenges do professionals in remote composting roles typically face, and how can they effectively manage them?

Remote composting professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating with off-site team members, ensuring proper waste collection logistics, and monitoring composting processes from a distance. Effective management involves utilizing digital tools to track compost metrics, maintaining regular communication with partners or facility staff, and leveraging remote sensors or cameras for real-time monitoring. Staying organized and proactive about troubleshooting can help ensure composting operations remain efficient and sustainable, even when managed remotely.

Job description

Marketing & Proposal Specialist

Remote | $55,000–$75,000 DOE

Verde is looking for a Marketing and Proposal Specialist to help drive growth, win new business, and bring the Verde story to life. This Marketing and Proposal Specialist role blends the efficiency of AI with human brainpower for proposal development, corporate communications, and brand storytelling to support sales, marketing, and business development initiatives.

The Marketing and Proposal Specialist plays a critical role in responding to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), creating compelling written content, and maintaining a consistent, engaging brand voice across multiple platforms. This is a role for someone who works fluently with AI agents and tools - using them to research, draft, and refine at speed - while bringing the creativity and judgment that makes the final product unmistakably human.

Key Responsibilities

As a Marketing and Proposal Specialist at Verde, you will:

  • Execute the development, writing, and submission of Requests for Proposal (RFPs), RFIs, and RFQs, ensuring compliance with all formatting and submission requirements
  • Write clear, concise, and persuasive proposal content aligned with client requirements and Verde's brand voice
  • Build and maintain an AI-powered RFP response agent that leverages Verde's past proposals, boilerplate library, and win themes to accelerate first drafts and ensure consistency across submissions
  • Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to increase speed and quality across writing, editing, and design workflows, from proposal drafts to social copy to presentation visuals
  • Develop and document AI prompts, templates, guardrails, and workflows that the broader Business Development team can adopt
  • Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, and subject matter experts to gather technical, operational, and sustainability-related content
  • Create and edit content for marketing materials, email campaigns, press releases, award submissions, white papers, and training documents
  • Maintain and elevate Verde's brand voice ("Verde Vibes") across proposals and communications
  • Develop social media and campaign copy that supports new business growth
  • Edit and proofread internal and external communications for grammar, clarity, and consistency
  • Support new business presentations and quarterly business reviews using company-approved templates
  • Assist with light design coordination to ensure final deliverables are visually aligned with brand standards
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional or corporate writing experience (proposal writing experience strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience responding to RFPs or complex business proposals
  • Demonstrated experience using AI writing tools to improve productivity while maintaining quality, accuracy, and brand voice
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to review, fact-check, and elevate AI-generated content
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, client-focused messaging
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with Adobe Suite preferred
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations teams
  • Writing portfolio or samples required
Preferred Experience
  • Facilities services, janitorial services, or commercial services
  • Sustainability, green cleaning, LEED, or environmental programs
  • B2B marketing or sales enablement writing
  • Experience building or configuring AI agents, custom GPTs, Claude Projects, or similar tools for content workflows
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Canva, MidJourney, CapCut, etc.)
