Job description

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented RS MEANS Construction Estimator to join our team and drive successful project bids through precise cost analysis and comprehensive estimating. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in construction estimating, project management, and cost control to develop accurate budgets that align with client expectations and project requirements. Your proactive approach and deep understanding of construction processes will contribute to winning projects and maintaining our reputation for excellence in the industry.

Duties

  • Prepare detailed construction estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope using RS MEANS cost data tools.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather project requirements and refine estimates accordingly.
  • Utilize software such as RS Means, Bluebeam to develop accurate pricing models, proposals, and bid packages.
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor cost analysis, and subcontractor negotiations to ensure competitive yet profitable bids.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process, applying effective cost control strategies to maximize margins.
  • Review contracts, scope of work, and project schedules to ensure estimates align with contractual obligations and project timelines.
  • Support project management teams by providing detailed cost analysis, risk assessments, and value engineering suggestions for construction site efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and site operations.
  • Proficiency in RS MEANS cost data platforms, Bluebeam for document management, for bid management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to secure favorable terms.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, project management principles, and cost control techniques within the construction industry.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
  • Construction site experience is highly desirable to understand on-the-ground realities influencing estimates.
