What is a remote asynchronous?

A Remote Asynchronous job allows employees to work from any location without the need for real-time communication or fixed working hours. Instead of adhering to a set schedule, employees complete tasks on their own time while collaborating through emails, recorded videos, or project management tools. This setup promotes flexibility and autonomy, making it ideal for global teams or individuals in different time zones. Effective communication and self-discipline are crucial for success in this type of work environment.

How does asynchronous work affect collaboration and communication in a remote setting?

In a remote asynchronous role, team members typically work at different times, so effective collaboration relies heavily on clear written communication and thorough documentation. You'll often need to leave detailed updates, instructions, or feedback so that colleagues in other time zones can pick up where you left off. This setup encourages autonomy but also requires proactive communication and strong organizational skills. Common challenges include waiting for responses and ensuring alignment on tasks, but teams address this by setting clear expectations, regular check-ins, and using asynchronous-friendly tools. If you are self-driven and comfortable working independently, this environment can offer great flexibility and work-life balance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a remote asynchronous position?

To thrive in a Remote Asynchronous role, you need excellent self-management, time management, and digital communication skills, typically supported by experience working independently in remote environments. Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Slack, Trello, Asana, and cloud-based document sharing platforms is important, and some roles may require specific technical proficiencies tied to the field. Strong written communication, proactivity, and the ability to set clear priorities will help you excel when direct, real-time supervision is limited. These competencies ensure productivity, accountability, and team alignment in settings where team members may work across different time zones and schedules.

Job description

Position Overview

New U Mental and Wellness Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team. We are looking for individuals who are fully licensed professionals ready to provide impactful counseling services to adults in need, all from the convenience of their own home. This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 90,000 to 100,000, along with generous benefits and a welcoming atmosphere committed to mental health advocacy.

About the Organization

New U Mental and Wellness Center is a pioneering outpatient facility based in Reno, Nevada, dedicated to supporting mental wellness through innovative counseling practices. Our mission is to foster emotional health and resilience among our clients by providing accessible, empathetic therapeutic services. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing environment for both clients and therapists alike, ensuring that every team member can thrive professionally while making a difference in the lives of others.

Work Environment

This remote position allows you to design your work schedule while benefiting from the support of an advanced technological infrastructure. At New U, you will have access to a comprehensive online therapy platform designed as your private practice space, enabling you to conduct live video sessions or asynchronous messaging at your convenience. Our supportive administrative team will handle marketing and billing, facilitating a smooth and efficient workflow so you can focus on what truly matters: your clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions via video conferencing, helping clients enhance their mental health through empathetic and solution-focused approaches.
  • Motivate clients to express their thoughts and feelings, guiding them toward deeper self-awareness and improved interpersonal relationships.
  • Advocate for clients by assisting them in defining their personal goals and exploring pathways to achieve them.
  • Assess clients' mental health conditions accurately, and collaborate to develop and implement tailored treatment plans that leverage your clinical expertise.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a select group of clients who have been carefully screened to ensure they are stable adults with low acuity needs. Our focus is on providing care to those with mild to moderate mental health concerns, which allows you to employ therapeutic techniques effectively without the complications often encountered in a high-acuity environment. Plus, we prioritize matching you with clients who align with your areas of expertise and demographic preferences, enhancing both your job satisfaction and client outcomes.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology is required.
  • Must hold a valid and active state license as a fully licensed clinician (LCPC, LMFT, or LCSW) in good standing, with no disciplinary actions or provisional licenses.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and an empathetic nature are essential for building trusting relationships with clients.
Preferred Experience

While previous experience in telehealth or remote counseling is advantageous, it is not mandatory. We value passion and commitment to mental health above all. Experience working with diverse populations and specific therapeutic modalities is also appreciated.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual salary between USD 90,000 and 100,000 based on experience and full-time commitment.
  • A sign-on bonus to ease your transition into our practice and recognize your qualifications.
  • Flexible scheduling options to help maintain an ideal work-life balance, accommodating your personal and professional commitments.
  • Minimal paperwork obligations, allowing you to focus predominantly on clinical work while we manage administrative tasks.
  • Unlimited client referrals and marketing support to keep your schedule filled without extensive outreach on your part, minimizing your expenses related to client acquisition.
Career Growth Opportunities

At New U Mental and Wellness Center, we encourage continuous professional development. Our structure provides ample opportunities for you to expand your skills, take on leadership roles, and potentially move into specialized areas of mental health counseling. We believe in promoting from within and supporting our staff in their career ambitions.

Why Join Our Team

Joining New U Mental and Wellness Center means becoming part of a compassionate and dedicated community focused on mental health and wellness. We understand the challenges that counselors face, and we are committed to respecting your personal time and professional growth. With us, you’ll find a workplace that values your contribution, invests in your success, and prioritizes the well-being of both clients and staff.

Application Information

Please submit your application, including your resume and cover letter that specifies your license type and state, to our hiring team.
