Housing & Food Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Starbucks Barista (Food Service Worker 1 (NE S WFSE Campuswide)) to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to Starbucks General Manager, the Starbucks Barista is responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages in a Starbucks licensed store on the UW campus.
The work schedule for this position is Sunday-Thursday 11:15am to 7:45pm.
Key Responsibilities
Food Service Operations 70%
  • Deliver exceptional Starbucks-branded customer service by providing prompt, friendly, and accurate service while engaging customers about coffee and beverage offerings.
  • Prepare and serve high-quality beverages, food items, and specialty products in accordance with Starbucks standards for consistency, portioning, and presentation.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment through effective communication, cooperation, and relationship building with coworkers.
  • Perform barista and bar back duties, including beverage preparation, food packaging, and replenishment of display items.
  • Monitor beverage and food preparation to ensure compliance with Starbucks quality, food safety, and operational standards.
  • Operate point-of-sale systems and process payments, including credit cards, Husky Cards, Starbucks app transactions, and loyalty rewards.
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and consistent attendance while supporting UW Dining's mission and values.

Cleaning, Food Safety, and Sanitation 25%
  • Follow Washington State health codes and Starbucks food handling guidelines, including temperature monitoring and sanitation compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace by participating in store cleaning, closing procedures, and reporting operational or safety concerns.
  • Troubleshoot and report equipment issues involving espresso machines, grinders, and other food service equipment.
  • Complete inventory and stocking tasks, including receiving deliveries, rotating products, maintaining displays, and monitoring supply levels.

Administrative 5%
  • Utilize CBORD systems for inventory counts, recipes, and production sheets while completing required Starbucks certifications and training.
