Job description

Title: Content Developer 2

Location: Birmingham, AL 35243.

Duration: 6 months Contract

Work Schedule: 4 days in office, 1 day remote

Pay rate: $37/hr. on W2

Work Location & Schedule

  • This position will fill multiple positions in the Birmingham, AL area.
  • The team currently has a hybrid work schedule requiring the individual(s) to be in the office four days a week. Occasional adjustments may require additional in-office time based on business needs.
  • No relocation assistance will be available.
  • Travel would be less than 25%.

Position Summary

  • The Instructional Designer will apply instructional design, adult learning, and multimedia expertise to analyze learning needs and design, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain high‑quality learning solutions that support organizational performance and business outcomes. Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, subject matter resources, and instructors, this role translates instructional, learning, and performance objectives into effective instructor‑led, virtual, blended, and digital learning experiences. Deliverables include eLearning modules, facilitator and participant guides, job aids, and performance support tools. All learning solutions are engaging, accessible, instructionally sound, and aligned with established standards, templates, and branding guidelines.

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

  • Experience with authoring tools (such as Articulate 360), animation software, and/or other similar development tools required.
  • Training experience (formal or informal) in technical and non-technical disciplines, such as power generation, power delivery, construction, business functions, compliance, safety, or associated fields, preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, narration software, and implementation of AI software in an instructional design environment highly desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required.
  • Experience managing projects is required.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship management skills required.
  • Experience/proficiency with Learning Management System strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Engage in curriculum planning and development, training design, and development. Includes specification of learner outcomes (goals and objectives), content specification and design, selection of instructional delivery formats, strategies and media, materials, and ensuring continuity from course to course.
  • Execute project plans and adhere to timelines for all learning projects, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods in the design of a variety of instructional materials for instructor-led courses, online modules, web-based learned aides, or other products/learning technologies.
  • Ensure online materials comply with system requirements for the various learning technologies used by the operating companies while applying accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with customers, subject matter resources, instructors, and business leaders to develop materials based on information provided.
