Job Summary

Provides healthcare services, applying cross-sectional computed tomography (CT) imaging and all related duties to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs CT procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognized patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Acts as a role model for comprehensive care, addressing the physiological, and socio-cultural needs of patients and their families and acts as a resource to other radiology employees in managing complex issues. Assures equipment is present and accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift. Assists in and facilitates employee development.

Essential Functions

  • Verifies patients' clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the licensed practitioner.
  • Completes proper patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment and accessories as directed. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Prepares / administers contrast media and / or medications as per protocol.
  • Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, assuring proper patient identification is evident.
  • Schedules patients for procedures.
  • Assignments are moderately complex; follows established protocols and has some flexibility in exercising judgment within established parameters. Works under minimal supervision/instruction; may serve as technical specialist/trainer and mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnel.

Required

  • Required Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in related field
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience CT experience Required
  • CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required And
  • CRT-Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
