More About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to join our Client Success Department. This is a specialized Controller role focused on the most critical phase of the client relationship - getting clients set up for long-term success through our onboarding phase called Tenacity. We are actively seeking those who have a background working with either Nonprofit Organizations or Professional services firms.


As an Onboarding Controller, you'll be part of building and refining how All In One Accounting onboards clients. Our new Client Success Department is reshaping how we setup clients for long-term success from Day 1. The team is focused on cleanup, bringing efficiencies, and adding long term value to our new clients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own client relationships during the Tenacity phase of our Accounting Clarity™ proven process
  • Lead intensive client onboarding, setup, and financial foundation building
  • Teach clients AIOA's systems, processes, and best practices
  • Identify opportunities for client growth and flag issues for ongoing teams
  • Continuously improve the Tenacity process to reduce timeline and increase client satisfaction
  • Ensure seamless handoffs to Operations delivery teams

Client Onboarding & Tenacity Phase Execution

  • Lead Tenacity phase kickoff meetings with new clients, setting expectations and building strong rapport
  • Conduct comprehensive financial assessment, identify cleanup needs, and assess opportunities for improvement
  • Establish chart of accounts structure and complete historical cleanup and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Implement accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes with appropriate internal controls
  • Establish month-end close procedures, train clients on workflows, and create baseline financial statements with supporting workpapers
  • Educate clients on accounting best practices and AIOA's Accounting Clarity® proven process throughout the engagement
  • Proactively identify expansion opportunities and flag potential issues for ongoing Operations team
  • Document all client-specific processes and systems in SharePoint for seamless team handoff
  • Build foundation of trust and confidence that sets clients up for long-term partnership success

Process Improvement, Handoff & Department Building

  • Prepare comprehensive handoff documentation and conduct smooth transition meetings with ongoing Operations team
  • Document lessons learned from each onboarding and contribute to building the Tenacity playbook
  • Identify opportunities for automation, templates, and timeline reduction as you execute engagements
  • Collaborate with VP, Client Success and team on continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Participate actively in Client Success team L10 meetings, sharing insights and learnings
  • Track metrics on onboarding quality, timeline, and client satisfaction to drive improvements

Internal Responsibilities

  • Complete all internal responsibilities including time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives
  • Actively participate in All In One Accounting's Brand Ambassador program, representing our mission and values
  • Maintain highest standards of service quality, client satisfaction, and security practices

The successful candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or multi-client environments
  • Experience in either Nonprofit Organizations or Professional Services firms
  • Proven success with client onboarding, implementation projects, or cleanup engagements
  • Strong technical accounting skills and ability to quickly assess and remediate financial issues
  • Excellence in client communication - Ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial audiences
  • Teaching and mentoring ability - You genuinely enjoy helping clients learn and build confidence
  • Process improvement mindset - You naturally identify inefficiencies and propose solutions
  • Project management skills - Ability to manage multiple client onboardings simultaneously with different timelines
  • Adaptability and resilience - Comfortable with ambiguity as we build and refine this new function
  • Technical proficiency with QuickBooks and ability to quickly learn various accounting software platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: $90,000 - $125,000
  • Annual Bonus: Up to 10% of salary
