Job Summary
Provide assistance to the Head Coach of an assigned university sports program.
This is a 10-month benefited Athletic Department position with teaching responsibilities in the Teacher Education Department, College of Education.
Based on the recent Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B) , VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.
Responsibilities
Typical Allocation of Duties :
On-court coaching - 40%
Assist the Head Coach and/or Assistant Head Coach with coaching during practices and competitions.
Competition preparation - 25%
Assist the Head Coach and/or Assistant Coach with competition preparation and planning.
Facilities preparation and maintenance - 25%
Assist in the maintenance sports facilities and in the preparation of facilities for practices or competitions.
Monitor student athletes' academic performance - 10%
Monitor student athletes' performance. Provide guidance and support to ensure student success.
Supervisor Expectations :
Position is involved in all aspects of the Baseball program to include, but not be limited to:
- On-field coaching.
- Video scouting and review of opponents.
- Recruitment of student-athletes.
- Monitoring of academic status of student-athletes.
- Coordination of outside community activities.
- Supervision of graduate assistant and student assistant coaches and staff.
- Scheduling of opponents.
- Coordination of travel.
An ideal candidate will possess:
- A master's degree and a minimum of one-year of coaching experience at the collegiate level.
- An academic and teaching background in health, physical education, human performance or related field.
- Experience as a collegiate student-athlete.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and over one (1) year of related work experience.
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
