Teacher/Head Coach - BASEBALL
Position Overview
Rockmart High School is seeking a dynamic, high-integrity leader to serve as a Teacher and Head Varsity Baseball Coach. The ideal candidate is a mentor dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and academic success. You will be responsible for the entire baseball program (Varsity, JV), ensuring a cohesive development pipeline from the ground up.
Position Type: Coaching Supplemental/Stipend. Teacher salary based on FY27 PSD Salary Schedule
Reports To: Athletic Director / Principal
Location: Rockmart High School
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of coaching experience (High School or Collegiate level preferred).
  • Certification: Valid teaching certificate
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of GHSA baseball rules and modern player development.
  • Compliance: Must pass a background check and maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and demonstrate baseball maneuvers.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season.
  • Resilience and composure under the pressure of competitive play.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Player Development
  • Skill Instruction: Design and implement comprehensive practice plans that focus on fundamental mastery, advanced situational play, and position-specific drills.
  • Culture Building: Establish team rules and expectations that prioritize character, discipline, and "team-first" mentalities.
  • Mentorship: Monitor student-athlete academic progress and provide guidance on college recruiting processes for those seeking to play at the next level.

2. Program Administration
  • Staff Management: Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches across all levels to ensure a unified coaching philosophy.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate with the Athletic Director to finalize game schedules, bus transportation, and field usage.
  • Budgeting & Equipment: Manage the program budget, oversee fundraising efforts, and maintain an inventory of uniforms and equipment.

3. Community & Communication
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain professional and transparent communication with parents, boosters, and school administration.
  • Youth Outreach: Organize summer camps or clinics to engage the local middle school and youth programs, building a sustainable "feeder" system.
  • Safety: Ensure all players adhere to safety protocols and coordinate with the Athletic Trainer regarding injury prevention and return-to-play guidelines.
