Performance Contracting is seeking a Branch Safety Engineer for its Madison-574 operations based in Madison, WI. The BSE will support the Corporate Regional Safety Manager (RSM).

The Primary responsibility of this role will be to train and coach workers to ensure compliance with the PCI Target Zero Accident Prevention Plan while creating a collaborative safety culture. 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Promote safety, safe work practices and behaviors to instill an injury free culture throughout PCI Madison projects and offices.
  • Assist the branch with implementing and administering the PCG Accident Prevention Plan, and any other related PCG safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Regularly visit jobsites to identify and anticipate risk areas and document compliance through jobsite safety inspections using Procore. Assist in correcting and mitigating routine and non-routine hazards through working with Foreman and Superintendent.

  • Work with owner and other contractors to ensure branch is compliant with external safety requirements while maintaining rapport. This includes creating and submitting company and client safety reports, statistics, and other documentation.

  • Provide safety support including (jobsite or office) training, expertise, guidance, coaching, and assist in ensuring that regulatory compliance is maintained with respect to safety, industrial hygiene and environmental protection.

  • Conduct investigations of work-related injuries, illnesses and near-miss incidents

  • Lead internal Root Cause Analyses Meetings with branch management and corporate safety.

  • Enforce and document corrective actions from incidents and any other general best practices or lessons learned.

  • Act as liaison between the company and client as it relates to site safety management.

  • Work with the Regional Safety Manager and other Branch Safety to ensure continuous improvement of the branch’s safety culture, policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Evaluate, inspect, and recommend safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Develop and administer safety trainings, toolbox talks, lessons learned, quarterly safety focuses, and any other necessary trainings.

  • Manage the branch’s training matrix and ensure all craft is up to date on required trainings.

  • Deliver new hire orientations to any office or field new hire.

  • Ability to perform all job duties and associated work functions in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

This position is safety-sensitive.

Basic Requirements

  • Knowledge of construction good safety practices.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative.
  • Good team player who is willing to routinely work with RSM, GM, or any other-related position.
  • Must have provided safety oversight or similar experience.
  • Capable of spending 80% of daily time in the field with craft.
  • Able to work 40+ hours per week.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and labor experience in the field.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in team environment.
  • Work well under pressure and deadline.
  • Ability to learn new safety skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught.
  • Ability to plan, execute and organize safety paperwork.
  • Able to work with customers and employees, building strong relationships.
  • Able to follow all site rules & guidelines.
  • Follow all PCG Requirements, including wearing of hard hart, safety glasses, boots, pants, gloves, sleeves, safety vest, and any other required PPE.

  • OSHA-30 Hour certification preferred
