Responsibilities*
  • Operate forklift, scissor lift and boom lift.
  • Clean and disinfect ice machine and Gatorade units as well as replacing water filters as needed.
  • Brush coils for HVAC equipment free of debris such as cottonwood, dirt, etc.
  • Game Day setup of field/court sport equipment.
  • Game Day press box setup and checks.
  • Post game facility shutdown of ventilation equipment.
  • Post game facility shutdown of concession equipment including grills, fryers.
  • Post game clean up of parking lots, bleachers, field/court.
  • Record, review inspection reports for therapy tubs and related equipment.
  • Qualified to operate a Tool Cat, Work Cart.
  • Organize and maintain inventory for mechanical stockroom within facilities.
  • Pregame installing of water hydration stations.
  • Change lamps and inspect sinks, toilets, urinals, air handlers and cabinet unit heaters for suites.
  • Game day flushing of main water lines run toilets and sinks to flush rusty water.
  • Provide daily checks of training tubs including testing and adding chemicals as needed.
  • Cleaning strainers and filters for hot and cold therapy tubs.
  • Pregame walk through; check lights, electrical fixtures, lighting relay panels, concession, lighting, vomitory signage, field/court lights, field and GFI receptacles.
  • Pregame inspection of walk-in commercial refrigerators and freezers, ice storage bins and ice machine units.
  • Game Day setup lighting control schedules for athletic events.
  • Post game facility shut down including closing and locking windows, doors, rollup doors and locking of restrooms.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a CPO (Certified Pool Operator) Qualification.
  • Pregame walk through plumbing checks concession hot water heaters, steam tables, dishwashers, garbage disposals, grease traps, restroom toilets, sinks.
  • Repair and replace window screens and hardware.
  • Drain and clean training tubs as well as removing/replacing and cleaning water filters.
  • Hang and install televisions.
  • Repair roofs by tar or mastic patching and shingle replacement.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches and job specifications to locate machinery, ducts, piping and valves, and to apply manufacturer's instructions for maintenance and
    repair procedures.
  • Replace electric cord/cord ends and plugs, lights and door bells.
  • Repair and replace ball cock assemblies, faucet washers and components, flush valves and shower valves.
  • Inspect and test equipment to determine maintenance needs by performing sight, sound and feel inspection on motors, fans, pumps, thermostats, and plumbing, heating and electrical equipment, steam and hot water systems, compressors and air and exhaust systems to assure correct operation, cycling and functioning of gauges, valves and controllers.
  • Replace or adjust door knobs and closers, striker plates, hinges and stops, auditorium seats, doors, shelves, panic bars and toilet seats, repair and replace prefabricated partitions.
  • Unplug commodes, urinals and sink drains by cleaning P-traps and sewer and waterlines clean roof drains, louvers and window wells.
  • Perform minor furniture repair such as re-gluing, tightening of arms and legs and bracing
  • Repair or replace ceiling and floor tiles.
  • Install, repair or replace venetian blinds and rods.
  • Lubricate bearings, oil motors and check V belt alignment and assist in the adjustment and replacement of belts.
  • Prepare inspection reports and work orders for repairs.
  • Clean and change filters on air, oil and water lines.
  • Install and repair dispensing machines for toilet supplies, wall hampers, chalk trays and boards, bulletin boards, movie screens, pencil sharpeners and coat hooks, cabinets, shelves and mirrors, repair small holes in plaster or drywall.
  • Clean and paint equipment and fixtures, clean assigned areas of work and equipment and seal machine room floors.

Required Qualifications*
  • Valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications*
  • 50% of time allocated to preventative maintenance of facility operations capital, vehicle assets
  • CPO License Aerial Lift & Forklift Certification
  • At least two years of experience in a hospitality industry working in an athletic, hotel or convention facility environment.
  • Successful experience working in a team environment.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all team members and customers.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage changing demands.
  • Experience maintaining state-of-the art facilities and grounds, and keeping them in pristine condition.
  • Ability to work nights, evenings, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate with many varied audiences: Coaches, staff, student-athletes, customers, vendors, fans, etc.
  • Reasonable computer-use ability including data entry, on-line research, use of the internet, email, and document manipulation.
  • Reasonable knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of Google cloud-technology products (or equivalent), smart phone technology, tablet technology, and computers.

Onsite: The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
