Join Ionbond in Madison Heights, MI

Keep mission‑critical coating equipment running at its best for customers in aerospace, medical, food contact, automotive, decorative, tooling, and fuel cell markets. As part of The Surface Engineers™, you’ll combine electrical and mechanical know‑how to drive uptime, reliability, and safety.

Your impact
  • Maximize asset availability across vacuum coating systems, clean line, and facility machinery.
  • Reduce recurrence by finding true root causes and implementing permanent fixes.
  • Partner with process engineers and leaders to remove bottlenecks and stabilize processes.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe workplace through 5S.
Core responsibilities
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
  • Document work thoroughly: notifications, service histories, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Troubleshoot/repair vacuum systems and high‑voltage circuits with confidence.
  • Track equipment performance and deploy strategies to cut breakdowns and improve OEE.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support operations.
Must‑have background
  • 3+ years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Education: Technical/trade or engineering certificate/degree preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Vacuum technology experience (we’ll provide training to deepen skills as needed).
  • Strong electrical aptitude; PLC controls familiarity.
  • Independent, self‑directed, and deadline‑driven.
  • Excellent verbal and email communication with peers, management, and suppliers.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel.
