Franklin General Hospital Cardiopulmonary department is currently looking to to fill an opening for Pulmonary Rehab. Hours are Part time. Shift Hours are 8:00-4:30. No weekends, Holidays, Nights or on call.
POSITION SUMMARY: Is responsible for assessing, care planning, patient educational and treatment application for patients receiving pulmonary rehabilitation services.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Responsible to the Cardiopulmonary Leader
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited program.
Registered licensure in State of Iowa.
Required Training: Advanced knowledge in interpreting cardiac arrhythmias and recognizing changes on EKG.
Ability to demonstrate use of exercise equipment and techniques.
Ability to have a good relationship with people of all ages and to adapt teaching skills to a variety of physical disabilities.
High degree of independent decision-making ability.
Current BCLS and ACLS certification required.
Current Iowa driver's license required.

Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity. Occasionally stopping, twisting, fine manipulation, frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, reading, and repetitive grasping.
Working Conditions: Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents/chemicals. Occasional exposure to infectious disease.
Job Accountabilities:
  1. Essential Functions
  • Participates in the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation education and exercise sessions while evaluation and developing treatment plans for assigned patients.
  • Maintains a medical record of patients receiving services, documenting patient progress, including critical events and resolutions of these events.
  • Communicates verbally or in writing with patients and families, other department, physicians, other health care providers and other appropriate agencies.
  • Assists and supports cardiopulmonary supervisor as needed.
  • Increase knowledge base to be able to skillfully instruct patients and families in cardiac disease and its prevention.
  • Recognizes and interprets potentially dangerous signs and symptoms and intervenes appropriately.

Participates in Quality Improvement program. Maintains all paperwork for patients.
  • Progress notes are sent to referring physicians every 6, 12, 18, 24, and 36 sessions with updates on progress of patients.
  • Initial assessment and discharge on all patients is done.
  • Daily exercise logs are filed in patient chart.

Is able to perform other duties as needed within the Cardiopulmonary Department such as Holter monitors, zio patch hook ups, home sleep testing devices, and overnight oximetry set ups. Trained in stress testing, Cardio Lyte Stress Test, and Stress Echocardiography. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings as required. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Follows the Standards of Behavior.
