About the School

St. Luke's Academy for the Arts and Sciences is a new Classical Christian high school in Monroe, Washington, committed to the Trivium and the Great Books tradition. Our inaugural student body of 10–14 students allows for deeply personal instruction, Socratic dialogue, and meaningful mentorship. We are building something from the ground up in coordination and cooperation with the students’ entire family — and seeking founding faculty who see teaching as a calling, not merely a career.

St. Luke's Academy draws upon the entire history of Western civilization and Christendom. Students will participate in weekly Morning Mass. Following worship, students return to the school campus to continue their daily instruction.

Position Description

We are seeking a passionate and faithful Latin Teacher to join our founding two-person faculty. This teacher will be responsible for instruction in Latin and its foundation to our English language across grades 9–12. The role includes significant involvement in curriculum development, working closely with the headmaster to shape the school's academic culture from its earliest days.

This is a rare opportunity for a teacher who wants to help build a classical Christian school — not simply step into an existing program.

In addition to the two full-time faculty, St. Luke's may engage part-time instructors for specialized subjects such as fine arts and music as the school grows.

Primary Subjects: Latin and English language origins

Additional Expertise Welcomed: Grammar, Logic/Dialectic, Rhetoric

Responsibilities may include: Socratic discussion leadership; substantial reading and writing instruction; integration of a Christian worldview throughout the curriculum; curriculum development; mentorship of students in small classes; participation in field trips, school events, and faculty meetings; willingness to pursue additional training in new subject areas as the school develops (tuition and time provided).

Schedule: 7:45 AM – 3:45 PM, one prep period daily, 10-month academic contract

Compensation: $45,000–$64,000 (prorated for part-time employment) annually, commensurate with experience. Professional development funding included.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Latin, English, Literature, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Classics, Education, or a related field. Professing Roman Catholic with active church membership. Full agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Standards (available at www.stlukesacademy.org). Must pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree. Washington State teaching certificate (held or in process). Training or experience in Classical Christian education. Experience with the Great Books, Socratic method, or Trivium-based instruction. Experience teaching Latin, Logic, or Rhetoric. Curriculum development experience.

Dress Code: Business casual for faculty; students wear uniforms.
