Position Type: Temporary Part Time
Number of Positions: Two (2)
Department: Community Services Department - Recreation Division
File Number: SV26-92
Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (265 Cannifton Road, Belleville, ON)
Hours: Hours of work vary – daytime, evening and weekend shifts are available; 1-5 hours per week, September 2026 – September 2027
Employee Group: Non-Union
Salary: $26.41 - $31.39 per hour

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, these positions prepare lesson plans, provide quality instruction, evaluation and complete administrative tasks for the assigned programs/classes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relations skills.
  • Responsible for providing instruction and leadership for your designated program.
  • Responsible for on-going evaluations and feedback of the programs to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork to effectively administrate this program as per the Department Procedures.
  • Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports.
  • Provide the participants with excellent customer service including management of conflict through effective problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ensure all program areas are properly supplied with equipment, paperwork, and any other supplies that may be required for programs.
  • This position is responsible for keeping any required certifications current.
  • Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma, at minimum
  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED
  • Certified Group Fitness Instructor or Personal Training Certification by a recognized and approved Agency
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification
  • Additional Fitness certifications (TRX, Kettlebell, Pilates, etc)
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Previous instructing experience in the assigned discipline
