The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a luxury property. This 290 room property has four penthouse suites, over 17,000 square feet of meeting space, expansive exterior space known as the Plaza, the Promenade and the Terrace, and an award-winning food and beverage program. Banquets, Schooners Coastal Kitchen and Bar, Helmsman Lounge, Tidal Coffee, and Room Service provide guests, groups, and local visitors numerous dining options. Vista Blue Spa offers a wide array of services in an outstanding location on the penthouse suite level and hosts the Fitness Center in addition to retail and sundries.

We are seeking Painters to join our outstanding team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties.
  • Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor or homeowner regarding painting.
  • Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
  • Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
  • Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
  • Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
  • Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
  • Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PAY SCALE The pay scale for this position is $24.80 per hour, with the position being eligible for a potential increase after 6 months.
