Human Resource Specialist  

Part-Time, Year-Round 

Onsite, Eden, UT   

Hourly, Monday - Friday

Located in beautiful Eden, UT, in the heart of Ogden Valley, is Eden Valley Opportunity, a real estate development business cultivating spaces that encourage community, gathering, and enjoyment of our natural surroundings. 

Eden Valley Opportunity subsidiaries include: Wolf Creek Resort Golf Course, Wolf Creek Resort Fitness Club, Wolf Creek Lodging, Wolf Creek Events, and numerous other real-estate ventures. 

Role Description: 

Working closely with our CFO, the HR Specialist processes bi-weekly payroll, manages employee onboarding/offboarding tasks, ensures personnel files are updated and stored properly, spearheads recruitment endeavors, handles employee relations, and plans employee events. 

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in using an HRIS platform and MS Office to execute accurate, compliant payroll and maintain an up-to-date employee database. 

This role will average 25 hours per week.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Process payroll for up to 130 employees using Intuit Enterprise software

  • Handle employee elected deductions and court-ordered garnishments 

  • Calculate various pay types, including bonuses, tips, reimbursements 

  • Calculate gross pay amounts across all Eden Valley Opportunity subsidiaries 

  • Manage all aspects of Human Resources 

  • Create/update employee Handbook, job descriptions, performance documents 

  • Document and research employee investigations/incidents 

  • Full-cycle recruitment of candidates, including offer negotiations 

  • Talent management, including succession planning and cost analysis 

  • File and update hard copies of employee paperwork, documents, and certifications 

  • Create management training and encourage performance reviews 

  • Oversee annual health care open enrollment 

  • Represent and be the contact for healthcare policies and employee benefits 

  • Be the contact for Worker's Compensation and Unemployment Benefits Claims. 

  • Influence Employee Relations 

  • Plan employee recognition events, perks, and gifts 

  • Be attentive to, respectful of, and act on employee requests. 

  • Address staffing shortages, poor performance, and disengagement. 

  • Other Duties as Assigned 

  • Assist the Events and Lodging departments when requested 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources 

  • 1-3 years’ experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) 

  • High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. 

  • Experience with Utah labor laws, including OSHA, MSHA, Worker's Compensation 

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to pivot to different tasks on demand 

  • Work with integrity, with the highest level of discretion and professionalism 

  • Keen ability to organize documents and data in a cloud-based filing system 

  • Foster a team environment while effectively managing HR workload 

  • Excellent communication tactics, including foreseeing written communication needs 

  • Meticulous attention to detail to minimize accounting and personnel data errors. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assess which priorities take precedence. 

  • Desire to acquire new knowledge to develop new processes and procedures.
