Job description

Job Announcement The City of Chandler City Manager's Office is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an AI Officer. The position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

The department executes the federal and state policy agenda of the City of Chandler to serve the interests of the Chandler community, includes the city's artificial intelligence governance initiatives, manages the city's grant efforts, houses the city's transportation policy and transit strategies including city-wide ADA coordination.

Who we are looking for Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, process development, and collaboration. We are seeking someone to provide leadership and oversight for the City's artificial intelligence initiatives, including strategy development, governance, and implementation. Promotes the responsible and effective use of AI technologies to improve organizational performance and service delivery.

Minimum qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field; and 8 years of progressively responsible experience in technology, data, analytics, digital transformation, or a related field, including 3 years of management or leadership experience involving strategic planning, program development, organizational change, or technology governance; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Desired qualifications Master's degree in data science, computer science, public administration, technology policy or related field.

Professional certifications relevant to AI, data management, cybersecurity, or project management Experience with public procurement, vendor management, and evaluating emerging technology solutions. Extensive knowledge leading technology deployment efforts, staff training, and stakeholder engagement related to technology adoption. Knowledge of municipal operations and experience developing or implementing organizational AI strategies, responsible AI frameworks, or governance policies.

Extensive experience managing or coordinating technical projects involving cross-department collaboration. Proven ability to translate technical concepts into clear recommendations for nontechnical staff and leadership, including through presentations. Experience with privacy, security, and compliance considerations for municipal or public-sector data.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
