We offer corporate and investment banking, treasury management, as well as research and advisory services to clients around the world. #bmocapitalmarketsJob DescriptionOverview of RoleThis role calls for a senior leader with deep capital markets expertise and a proven ability to design and lead operating models that support critical client enablement and transformation projects.The mandate spans client onboarding and offboarding, KYC/AML, client tax governance, client reference data, and broader client journey (one client, franchise client support) and other transformation projects.The successful candidate will balance client, employee, business, and regulatory priorities while delivering scalable solutions that enhance experience, improve efficiency, and strengthen control.Key ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include:Lead a global team of 100+ professionals across North America, Europe, and AsiaOversee a meaningful operating budgetServe on the Capital Markets COO leadership team and contribute to business strategy and performancePartner with Investment & Corporate Banking and Global Markets to align enablement priorities with business needsLead operating model, technology, and client onboarding initiatives that deliver business, operational, and financial outcomesProvide business leadership for client lifecycle technologies, market data, and related vendor selection and BAU managementIdentify risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies, and implement sustainable improvementsTrack performance against productivity benchmarks and drive operational excellenceLiaise with internal audit, regulators, and risk functions as neededDomain ExpertiseThe successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in:Capital markets, including client structures, products, and service expectationsThe client lifecycle and leading practices in service deliveryLegal and regulatory requirements, including KYC/AML, due diligence, and financial crime preventionOperating model design and process improvement in complex, controlled environmentsVendor contract structuring to achieve strong outcomes for BMO stakeholdersLeadership & People ManagementLead a global organization across multiple functions and levels of seniorityBuild high-performing teams aligned with business prioritiesInfluence and collaborate across the bank to deliver integrated outcomesAttract, retain, and develop talent, with a focus on succession planningDrive performance through clear expectations, coaching, and accountabilityRisk Management & GovernanceDemonstrate strong understanding of transaction complexity and associated risks across credit, market, operational, AML/financial crime, legal/compliance, reputational, and jurisdictional dimensionsEnsure risks are identified, assessed, and managed in line with the bank’s risk appetiteBalance client, business, and risk considerations in recommendations and decisionsMaintain accountability for effective risk and compliance reportingEmbed risk management, internal controls, and compliance into day-to-day operationsQualifications & Experience15+ years of relevant experience in capital markets, operations, or enablementAdvanced degree (e.g., MBA) or equivalent experience preferredProven track record leading transformation, including operating model redesign and technology implementationAbility to translate complexity into clear, actionable strategiesResults-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and execute with clarity and confidenceExceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skillsPlease note the base salary for this role is $350,000 USDSalary :Pay Type:SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
