What You'll Do
As a Foster Assistant, you'll support Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control's foster and transport programs by helping animals receive the care, attention, and placement opportunities they need while they wait for a foster home, rescue placement, or adoption.
Key Responsibilities
  • Match animals with foster homes and support foster volunteers throughout the process.
  • Administer basic medications, vaccines, and treatments while monitoring animal health.
  • Document animal behavior, medical care, and foster information in shelter software.
  • Transport animals to rescue partners, foster homes, and adoption locations.
  • Assist with daily animal care, adoptions, and shelter operations as needed.

What You Bring
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience working with animals.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Compassion for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
