Job description

Board-Certified Neurologist
Nashville Veterinary Specialists • Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville Veterinary Specialists and Animal Emergency (NVS) is looking for a second neurologist. You would step into an established caseload built on a referral network of more than 250 veterinarians - shared on call, a boarded anesthesiologist in the room for your imaging and surgical cases, and on-site radiation oncology, so the dog whose brain tumor you diagnose on Tuesday can begin treatment here rather than three states away. No building a service from zero. No carrying on call alone.
About NVS
Since opening in 2010 as Nashville's first emergency and specialty hospital, Nashville Veterinary Specialists (NVS) has earned a reputation as the hospital veterinarians trust with their most complex cases. That reputation extends far beyond Tennessee-in a recent 12-month period, we treated patients from 34 states. Clients routinely travel past closer hospitals to seek our care and referring veterinarians from across the region rely on our team for advanced diagnostics, specialty expertise, and exceptional patient care.
Our success is built on more than advanced medicine-it's built on our people. Collaboration is part of our everyday culture, with specialists working closely together through real-time discussions and shared problem-solving, not just formal consultations. Our experienced, highly skilled technicians are an integral part of the team, allowing doctors to practice at the highest level while delivering outstanding patient care. We are proud to have received the Ethos President's Award for Excellence in Team Engagement and Quality of Care for two consecutive years, reflecting our commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork, and a workplace where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.
What You'll Walk Into
  • An established neurology service with a mature referral stream - and a colleague to share call with
  • On-site MRI and CT with a boarded anesthesiologist supporting your imaging and surgical cases
  • On-site radiation oncology - your brain tumor patients stay in-house for stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT)
  • Boarded colleagues in critical care, internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology, cardiology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology
  • 24-hour emergency and critical care teams caring for your hospitalized and post-operative patients overnight
  • Electrodiagnostics, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and cystoscopy
  • Two newly constructed facilities totaling 34,000 square feet

The Offer
  • Competitive base salary plus production
  • Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance
  • Comprehensive benefits, a continuing education allowance with dedicated CE time, and license and dues reimbursement
  • Pet care discount
  • Yearly scrub allowance
  • [Ethos benefits]

Why Nashville (From People Who Actually Live Here)
Nashville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country for good reasons. It offers the energy and opportunities of a major metropolitan area while still feeling welcoming and easy to call home.
Yes, Broadway is fun to experience, but the Nashville locals' love is found in places like the Station Inn for bluegrass, the Bluebird Café for intimate songwriter nights, or the iconic Ryman Auditorium when your favorite artist comes to town. Music isn't just entertainment here-it's woven into everyday life.
When you're off shift, you'll find plenty of ways to recharge. Run the trails at Radnor Lake or Percy Warner Park, spend the day boating on Percy Priest or Old Hickory Lake, paddle the Harpeth River, or explore the shops and restaurants in Franklin, Leiper's Fork, East Nashville, 12-South, or Germantown. Professional sports fans can cheer on the Predators, Titans, or Nashville SC, while weekend getaways to the Great Smoky Mountains are just a few hours away.
Nashville is also simply an easy place to live. With no state income tax, excellent schools, a growing food and arts scene, and Nashville International Airport just minutes from downtown with nonstop flights across the country, it's easy to balance work, travel, and family. Whether you're relocating on your own or with a family, Nashville offers an exceptional quality of life-and it's a place many people quickly discover feels like home
Qualifications
Board certification or completed residency training in neurology (ACVIM) with expectation to pass boards within two years of joining. Residents finishing in 2027 and 2028 are welcome to start the conversation now - we would rather meet you early than miss you.
