We are seeking a full-time Crisis Support Specialist for our Chicago NYAP Center for Family Engagement and Well-Being program. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday 4pm to 12am and every 3rd week, on-call for the week.
The on-call schedule is typically every three weeks and is based on coverage needs. On-call responsibilities are only required when there is not already staff coverage, which is most often during overnight hours.
Starting salary: $52,416.00 per year, depending on degree and experience. In addition, there is an additional pay for on-call responsibility: $300 per month-$150 each pay period
Position Summary
The Crisis Support Specialist works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth and families served by the National Youth Advocate Program. This position is responsible for taking after-hour calls from ERH foster parents to provide support, answer questions, address comments and/or concerns and respond with appropriate actions.
Working At NYAP
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Crisis Support Specialist will perform duties including, but not limited to:
• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
• Develop and maintain connections with ERH foster parents.
• Provide, at minimum, daily contact with foster parents to develop and build working relationships.
• Handle all after-hours calls from ERH foster parents.
• Provide live crisis support for youth and ERH foster parents in need of support.
• Assist foster parents in de-escalating crisis situations. Document all interventions and behavioral health services provided.
• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support.
• Identify and assist foster parents in implementing behavior stabilization techniques.
• Provide transportation for clients when needed.
• Gather information for incident reports from foster parents, write incident reports, and make appropriate notifications to custodial agencies.
• Log data regarding all after-hours conversations with ERH foster homes.
• Performs other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in human services, social work, or behavioral/social sciences.
• 1 year of experience in youth services, preferably with direct experience in child welfare, or foster care; preferred.
• Must have the ability to be and stay alert after hours; have excellent listening and speaking skills.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
