Job description

Description

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of hotel guests, staff, and

property at King Christian Hotel and Hotel on the Cay. This role requires proactive patrols, access

control, incident response, and effective communication with hotel staff and local authorities. The

position includes both day and overnight shifts, with specific responsibilities during overnight

operations.

Requirements

Patrol & Property Security

1 Conduct routine patrols of hotel interiors and exterior grounds.

2 Ensure all non-utilized areas, doors, and gates are locked and secured.

3 Retrieve communication equipment (walkie-talkie) from the Front Desk at the start of each shift.

4 Patrol and secure designated areas including Coffee Shop, Cream & Co, Caroline's, Beach Bar,

Beach Areas, Dock House, Double Doors & Laundry Gate, Side Entry Gate, Pool Gate, and Kings

Alley Exit/Entry Gate.

5 During overnight shifts, perform patrol walks every 30 minutes to ensure all restaurant, bar, hotel

doors, beach access points, docks, and gates are secured.

Access Control & Surveillance

1 Monitor entrances and exits to prevent unauthorized access.

2 Verify staff or guest credentials when required.

3 Observe public areas for suspicious behavior.

4 Ensure CCTV systems are functioning properly.

Guest & Staff Support

1 Maintain a visible security presence to deter misconduct.

2 Escort closing employees to vehicles or transportation when requested.

3 Assist guests with directions and safety concerns.

4 Escort early-morning departing guests to taxis as needed.

Overnight Shift Duties

1 Maintain communication with the overnight Front Desk Agent.

2 Assist guests with contacting ferry captains for Hotel on the Cay transportation.

3 Monitor hotel activity to ensure safety throughout the night.

Safety Checks & Incident Response

1 Inspect fire exits, extinguishers, alarms, and emergency lighting.

2 Identify and report safety hazards.

3 De-escalate conflicts and respond to incidents professionally.

4 Document incidents and contact law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.


Qualifications & Skills

1 Previous security or hospitality experience preferred.

2 Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.

3 Ability to remain calm under pressure.

4 Physically able to stand and patrol for extended periods.

5 Availability for overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
