For more than 160 years, Siemens has been an integral provider of infrastructure, electrification, and transportation solutions in the United States. Automation's impact on the railway industry is second only to the effects of digitalization. Combine them and the results are transformative! We work at the leading edge of this movement, applying our proven expertise in digitalization to rail infrastructure and automation.

Our innovative solutions deliver greater safety, punctuality, reliability, and sustainability across the line, all while reducing costs for mass transit and freight transportation systems. We are continuously developing new answers for rail automation - often to questions that haven't been asked yet.

Position Overview:

As a Transporter Equipment Operator, you play a critical role in keeping our rail operations moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule. In this hands‐on position, you'll operate Self‐Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) and other specialized equipment to maneuver rail vehicles throughout our facility and prepare them for shipment nationwide.

This role is ideal for seasoned Heavy Equipment Operators from construction, oil & gas, logging, crane operations, or military motor transport backgrounds who take pride in precision work and safety excellence. You'll work as part of a tight‐knit team while also having the trust and responsibility to operate independently in a dynamic, industrial environment.

If you enjoy operating complex equipment, solving logistical challenges, and seeing the tangible results of your work every day, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a visible impact.

  • Coordinate closely with production teams to safely relocate rail vehicles across the facility.
  • Operate specialized transport equipment including SPMTs, Rail King, Scheuerle Transporters, Econo‐Lift, and Track Mobile.
  • Load and unload rail car shells and support water testing of car shells and completed rail vehicles.
  • Prepare rail vehicles for shipment by staging flat cars, loading vehicles onto trailers, and securing loads using approved tie‐down methods.
  • Perform vehicle and rigging inspections, ensuring proper load leveling and center‐of‐gravity control.
  • Install bolsters, bogies, or dollies on rail vehicles as required.
  • Operate forklifts to support facility operations and material movement.
  • Drive a five‐ton truck for local material transport.
  • Unload rail car shells using lifting jacks, forklifts, and related equipment.
  • Follow all safety policies, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Risk Control Measures-safety is always the top priority.

For your safety, we require:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator in industries such as construction, drilling rig, oil or gas, logging, crane operations, or military motor T operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong physical fitness, including the ability to walk long distances on uneven surfaces and lift heavy equipment.
