Description
Wellsite Manager - Workover & Field Operations
The Wellsite Manager is responsible for overall field operations and production performance, with a strong focus on workover rig execution, roustabout crew management, and well servicing activities. This role serves as the primary field authority accountable for maintaining and improving production while ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations across all assets.
As the leader in the field, the Wellsite Manager oversees daily wellsite operations, production optimization, and service execution, coordinating rigs, crews, pumpers, equipment, and third-party vendors. This position plays a critical role in diagnosing production issues, implementing corrective plans, and ensuring all operations align with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in both production and well servicing, with the ability to lead crews, troubleshoot wells, and manage multiple field activities simultaneously while maintaining strong relationships with landowners, regulators, and internal teams.
Wellsite Manager Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the person directly responsible for field production, ensuring wells are operating efficiently and meeting production targets
  • Work closely with pumpers to monitor well performance, diagnose production issues, and develop corrective action plans
  • Lead and manage workover rig operations, including scheduling, rig moves, execution, and performance tracking
  • Supervise and direct roustabout crews, pumpers, service providers and field service personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Coordinate and oversee all well servicing activities, including pulling units, , rig-ups/rig-downs, and downhole operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production and mechanical issues, implementing both short-term fixes and long-term optimization strategies
  • Develop and execute production improvement plans, including well interventions and artificial lift optimization
  • Manage daily field logistics, including personnel, equipment, vendors, and wellsite readiness
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for service providers and contractors, ensuring quality work and cost control
  • Work closely with engineering and drilling teams to support workover programs, recompletions, and production optimization efforts
  • Prepare and maintain well locations for drilling, completions, and ongoing service operations
  • Build and maintain relationships with landowners, addressing concerns and coordinating access, surface use, and operations
  • Interface with the Railroad Commission, ensuring compliance with regulations, reporting requirements, and field inspections
  • Oversee and manage lease operating expenses, with a focus on workover, production, and service-related costs
  • Plan and execute capital improvements and compliance projects at the field level
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, uptime, and overall field performance
  • Ensure all operations comply with company safety policies and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate and supervise third-party contract work, ensuring adherence to scope, safety, and timelines

Position Requirements
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop field crews, including roustabouts and pumpers
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and address issues as needed
  • Train personnel on proper procedures and safe operation of field equipment
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication between field teams, management, and engineering

Wellsite Manager Qualifications
  • At least 25 years of oilfield experience with strong emphasis on production operations, workovers, and wellsite management
  • Proven experience managing production, diagnosing well issues, and executing corrective plans
  • Hands-on experience working with pumpers, workover rigs, and field service crews
  • Strong knowledge of well operations, including high-pressure wells, artificial lift systems, recompletions, and secondary recovery methods
  • Experience working with landowners and regulatory agencies (including the Railroad Commission)
  • Demonstrated leadership managing multiple crews and contractors simultaneously
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot field, surface and downhole issues
  • Experience managing lease operating expenses and service budgets
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Proficiency with Rodstar or similar production optimization tools

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical degree preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
