About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Market Analyst, Refined Products, to join the team in our Dublin office. Reporting to Manager, Marketing (Trade) Analytics, this position is accountable for short-term market analysis of Canada and US refined products markets; supply modeling in support of marketing activities and commercial decisions. The successful candidate will have analytical modeling experience and be able to develop unique market insights and independently translate these views into tradable ideas to be executed by the refined products traders. The Refined Products Analyst must be passionate about covering refined products markets and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment that is constantly evolving.

What you'll do:

  • Support the development and maintenance of short-term (<18 months) market analysis and outlooks for refined products and crude markets across the WCSB and North America

  • Assist in building, updating, and maintaining supply/demand models, market balances, pricing indicators, and inter-regional flow analyses under the guidance of senior team members

  • Monitor market fundamentals, infrastructure developments, and macroeconomic factors affecting supply, demand, and pricing, and communicate key observations to the team

  • Conduct market research and analysis to help identify trends, risks, opportunities, and potential commercial impacts

  • Support trading, marketing, and commercial teams by preparing analysis, reports, and scenario evaluations to aid decision-making

  • Deliver timely market intelligence, recurring reports, and ad hoc analysis to support commercial activities, asset evaluations, and business development initiatives

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US

  • Post-secondary degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline

  • 2+ years of experience in market analysis, energy analytics, commodities, financial analysis, or a related field

  • Working knowledge of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, or broader energy market fundamentals

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience interpreting complex datasets and market trends; proficiency in Excel and SQL required. Experience with Python, R, Databricks, or similar analytical tools is considered an asset
