Job description

Take the next step in your sales career with LocaliQ, a USA Today Co. brand, where innovation, teamwork, and results-driven success are at the core of everything we do. As a Business Development Representative (BDR) focused on Funeral Home Businesses, you will prospect, qualify, and generate new sales opportunities by engaging funeral home owners, general managers, funeral directors and marketing decision-makers.

This role is designed for individuals who are energized by high-volume outreach and motivated by measurable performance goals. You will play a critical role in activating new and previously active funeral home businesses through obituary placements, helping funeral homes build meaningful audiences for the families they serve and strengthen their connection to the local communities they support, while leveraging LocaliQ’s obituary marketing solutions.

LocaliQ provides ongoing one-on-one training and coaching, giving you the opportunity to build foundational sales skills in prospecting, messaging, objection handling, and consultative conversations, while preparing you for long-term career growth within a world-class sales organization.

About Our Customers: Funeral Home Businesses

Funeral homes are deeply community-centered businesses operating within a highly sensitive, trust-based, and relationship-driven industry. As a Business Development Representative, you will develop a strong understanding of the operational, emotional, and logistical challenges that can prevent consistent obituary placements, and work directly with funeral homes to help remove those barriers.

You will engage with key decision-makers and influencers, including Funeral Home Owners, Funeral Directors, General Managers, and Marketing Managers or external marketing partners.

Your outreach will include new prospects, currently active customers, and previously active customers, with a primary focus on activating and/or reactivating obituary placements. Through thoughtful, respectful conversations, you will help funeral homes expand the reach of the families they serve, build lasting local audiences, and strengthen their connection to the communities in which they operate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting (100–120 phone calls per day) to funeral home businesses.
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads and set appointments with decision-makers.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the funeral home industry and local market dynamics.
  • Clearly articulate and understand the value of LocaliQ’s Obituary audience, rate programs, and technology solutions for obituary placement.
  • Accurately document activity, notes, and outcomes in CRM tools.

A Little About You
  • You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment and is motivated by growth and performance. You bring:
  • A track record of high achievement or a strong desire to begin and excel in a sales career
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A naturally curious mindset with a passion for learning how businesses operate
  • A competitive nature with a strong drive to meet and exceed measurable goals
  • High energy, self-motivation, and resilience
  • Comfort handling objections and rejection daily
  • Previous experience demonstrating the ability to meet or exceed expectations
  • Preferred Qualifications - Previous sales or customer-facing experience (phone-based preferred)

Training & Career Growth
  • LocaliQ invests heavily in your success. You will receive:
  • Ongoing one-on-one coaching and training
  • Exposure to digital marketing fundamentals and consultative sales skills
  • Clear performance metrics and advancement opportunities
