In this role as a AI Engineer, you will:

Innovate in a Startup-Like Environment

Be part of a fast-moving, forward-thinking group that is creating AI-driven software for accounting professionals. You'll work with top AI and software development experts, leveraging cutting-edge technology to build intelligent and scalable systems. This role is for the CoCounsel for Accounting team, formed from the recent acquisition of the startup Materia.

Collaborate Across Functions

Work closely with AI/ML engineers, frontend developers, product managers, and designers to build robust services that support generative AI experiences. Help to build out our core AI interfaces such as Conversations, Workspaces, Grid, and Knowledge Base.

Learn and Grow

Ramp up with a mentor and a world-class engineering team into software engineering best practices. You'll be expected to quickly transition into contributing independently and with high standards for quality, testing, and user experience.

About You:

You are a fit for the position of AI Engineer if your background includes:

Required Experience & Skills:

  • You will graduate in Fall 2025 or Spring/Summer 2026 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • You have had 1 or more relevant internships, co-ops, or other industry experience.

  • Strong programming skills with at least one of Python or Typescript.

  • Familiarity with AI augmented coding, such as with Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot.

  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and communication skills, e.g., through group projects.

  • Passion for AI-driven software and new engineering paradigms.

  • An adaptable, creative problem solver who enjoys exploring new technologies.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated project ownership experience via side projects, hackathons, etc.

  • Experience building generative AI products, agent-based architectures, or AI APIs from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic.

  • Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, or search-based AI.

  • Experience with our tech stack -- Python/FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Vercel, Next.js/React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS

For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $88,200 USD - $163,800 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
