Job description

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Project Manager to help lead transportation planning studies that shape safer, more connected, and more resilient communities.

As an Experienced Transportation Planning Project Manager II, you'll play a key role in collaborating with planners, engineers, environmental scientists, technicians, public and private agencies, and community stakeholders to develop transportation solutions that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life. You'll lead complex planning studies, guide project teams, foster client relationships, and help move innovative ideas from concept to implementation while contributing to meaning infostructure and community planning initiatives.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Manage transportation planning projects and studies.
  • Serve as lead planner on assigned projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Prepare transportation planning studies and technical deliverables.
  • Develop reports, maps, exhibits, and presentations.
  • Utilize GIS and planning analysis tools proficiently.
  • Lead client meetings, workshops, and public engagement activities.
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead business development activities, proposals, and project pursuits.
  • Mentor planning staff and support professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Community Development, Geography, or related Field required
  • 12 years' minimum experience in transportation planning, urban planning, community development, or related discipline
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
  • Expertise in managing transportation planning projects and studies
  • Expertise in transportation planning principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Expertise in leading project teams, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Expertise in preparing technical reports, planning documents, maps, and presentations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advance proficiency with ESRI, ArcGIS, Sketch UP, Adobe Suite, and other appropriate planning software
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships,
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to support project, client, or stakeholder needs.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with municipalities, counties, MPOs, DOTs, or other public agencies
  • Advance proficiency in leading public meetings, workshops, or stakeholder engagement activities
  • Advance proficiency in leading and supporting business development, proposals, and project pursuits
  • Proficiency with transportation modeling, corridor studies, safety studies, or multimodal planning initiatives
  • A desire to further develop and implement business development skills

The expected compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
