About this Job
Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! We are a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. We offer a wide range of services including general surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. At Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, we are able to bring you a wide range of services close to home, provided by a network of board-certified physicians.
This position performs sub-professional clinical and administrative support functions at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center in the Medicine Unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in administrative services in a healthcare setting; OR
Two years of experience or training in patient care; OR
An associate's degree or certificate in a medical assistant training program.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
  • Obtain and record patients' vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, head circumference, height, and weight) and observe/report changes in physical or mental condition.

  • Prepare patients for examinations, assist with medical histories, and support practitioners during treatments, examinations, and procedures.

  • Perform EKGs, collect lab samples, monitor cardiac rhythms, and document/report results as directed.

  • Change dressings, monitor food intake and elimination, and assist with catheterization or other basic treatments under a registered nurse's direction.

  • Provide constant visual monitoring and behavioral intervention for patients in crisis, including restraining when necessary to maintain safety.

  • Maintain and update patient records, schedule appointments, arrange lab/hospital services, and assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.

  • Maintain medical supply inventory, prepare requisitions, and perform light housekeeping or equipment sterilization as needed.

  • Train and instruct lower-level staff, attend required training, and ensure compliance with hospital standards and safety requirements.

Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Work Location: This Medical Assistant position is located in the Medicine Unit.
Work Hours: Shift will be determined by Manager/ Supervisor.
The selected candidate will be required to obtain a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon appointment and complete an ECG course annually.
