Job Summary
CRY-ROP is seeking a Medical Assistant Clinical Teacher. The Medical Assistant Clinical courses are centered on the language of healthcare through the study of anatomy and physiology, body systems and their interrelationships, advanced medical terminology as applied to diseases, disorders, and medical interventions. Students will learn back-office skills such as taking vitals, recording health histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood, and assisting with minor surgical procedures in simulated laboratory exercises while practicing and learning medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical/surgical asepsis, and basic pharmacology. Students will also practice clinical skills and learn topics covering electrocardiography, phlebotomy, hematology, laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, emergency procedures and the overall well-being of the patient. Activities include work-based learning and ROP field internship (Community Classroom) that provide medical assisting experience and connect students to industry and the local community. Class requirements also include career preparation skills such as job search, resume, job interview and communications skills. Proficient use of office equipment including a computer utilizing the Windows 10 operating system and assigned software applications including MS Office 2010 Suite, Adobe Creative Suite 6, and Maya 2016 is preferred. Experience with a public school is desirable. The successful candidate will have not less than three (3) years' experience in the field and/or education and experience combined that meets the criteria. We will assist with the credential application process. The application cost for first time credential holders is approximately $265.

As part of the interview, you will be asked to create a 5-minute lesson that is related to your field of study. You will be asked to stand in front of the interview panel and give the lesson as though the panel were your students, and you were their teacher.
The prepared lesson can be more than 5 minutes, but you will only present for 5 minutes. We will stop you at the end of the 5 minutes and it will have no reflection on you or your scores. There will be a whiteboard for your use, or you may use our Smart Board. You may also provide handouts for the panel.
