The Data Scientist expands the impact of data science across the firm by designing, developing, delivering, and supporting advanced analytics and machine learning solutions. This role partners with product owners to perform detailed exploratory analysis, translate complex business questions into actionable insights, and deliver predictive models that support key initiatives across Workplace Solutions, including Retirement, Wealth Management, Employee Benefits, and Benefits Administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand data quality, drivers, patterns, and business context prior to model development
  • Deliver data science solutions by building predictive models and advanced analytics using structured and unstructured data
  • Apply a range of data science and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, decision trees, neural networks, clustering, time series) to solve business problems
  • Partner with product owners across Workplace Solutions to understand requirements, define hypotheses, and ensure analytical outputs align to business needs
  • Communicate technical findings and business insights through clear presentations and effective data visualizations for business and technical audiences
  • Assist in the evaluation of data science platforms, technologies, frameworks, and data sources
  • Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of data science solutions
Required Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in data science or a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, computer science, applied mathematics, engineering), or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing and delivering data science solutions
  • Full proficiency with machine learning and advanced analytics methods
  • Strong skills in Databricks, SQL, Python, data visualization, PySpark, and data wrangling on cloudbased data platforms
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of Workplace Solutions domains (Retirement, Wealth, and Benefits)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in financial services, particularly Retirement, Wealth Management, or Employee Benefits
  • Handson experience building and deploying data science solutions on public cloud platforms
  • Experience with Azure ML, Snowflake, Databricks, and deep learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that's fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
