Job description
Role: GenAI Motion Designer
Location: Remote - Toronto, Canada
About the role:
Join our team, where you'll craft and localize high-volume motion and design content for a leading vacuum and floorcare brand across the USA (and potentially additional markets). You'll translate product innovation and performance into compelling, conversion-minded creative - ranging from animated paid social and video cutdowns to static eCommerce modules and digital retail assets.
This role is built for a motion designer with a strong design background who can move fluidly between static design systems and animation, and who's excited to use Generative AI to accelerate exploration, versioning, and production - without compromising craft, accuracy, or brand consistency.
What you will be doing:
- Use GenAI tools to speed up concepting and production tasks (style exploration, storyboard frames, background generation/extension, versioning, compositing support)
- Follow responsible GenAI practices: brand safety, accurate product depiction, rights/provenance awareness, and transparent documentation of AI-assisted outputs
- Contribute to prompt libraries, reusable workflows, and internal playbooks to improve speed and consistency
- Design and produce high volumes of motion assets across formats (paid social, display, retailer placements, PDP modules, DOOH cutdowns, short-form product videos)
- Animate product-focused stories that clearly communicate key benefits (e.g. suction performance, filtration, hair pickup, edge cleaning, runtime, attachments, smart features)
- Build modular motion templates and toolkits (supers, feature frames, offer cards, end cards, transitions) to enable rapid scaling, localisation, and A/B testing
- Execute cutdowns, resizes, and iterative versions (9:16, 1:1, 16:9, 4:5), maintaining pacing, legibility, and platform best practices
- Collaborate on light editing needs (assembling footage, basic sound alignment, exporting/packaging for delivery)
- Design high-volume static assets for eCommerce and performance channels (PDP imagery modules, brand/retailer tiles, comparison charts, promo assets, CRM/email graphics)
- Create clear, benefit-led layouts that balance product beauty with technical clarity (feature callouts, icons, disclaimers, specs)
- Develop and maintain design systems: templates, grids, typography rules, iconography, and component libraries for consistent scaling
- Prepare clean production files and export packages across multiple specs, channels, and retailers
- Ensure accurate product representation (correct model/attachments, truthful demos, colour/finish accuracy, realistic environments)
- Partner directly with clients, account team, copywriters, and compliance stakeholders to ensure on-screen claims, callouts, comparisons, and disclaimers match approved language and required legal/retailer standards
- Maintain consistency across touchpoints so static and motion assets feel like one cohesive system
- Work directly with clients and the account team to take work from brief through delivery on tight timelines
- Participate in client reviews, incorporate feedback quickly, and manage version control across multiple deliverables simultaneously
- Coordinate with external partners as needed to maintain quality at scale
What you need to be great in this role:
- 3+ years of experience spanning motion design and static design (agency, in-house, or production studio)
- A portfolio demonstrating both:
- Motion: typography-driven animation, product storytelling, performance creative, templates/toolkits
- Design: strong layouts, systems thinking, eCommerce/performance assets, brand consistency
- Proficiency in Adobe After Effects (must-have); strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator; Premiere Pro preferred; Cinema 4D/Blender is a plus
- Strong typography and layout skills; confident building modular systems that scale across channels and formats
- Practical experience using Generative AI tools in a creative workflow (concepting, storyboarding, versioning, asset generation/extension, production acceleration)
- High attention to detail and a strong QA mindset (clean exports, correct specs, consistent branding, accurate product depiction)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and fast turnarounds while maintaining craft
- Clear communicator and collaborative partner across creative, project management, and client teams
- Familiarity with Adobe Workfront and Microsoft 365 is a plus
