Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as the chair for the JABSOM EdTech Committee.
- * Manage & administer technology based applications used by faculty, staff, & students for medical education, including user administration, security management, & virtual group management. Generate materials & conduct training for faculty, staff, & students for these applications.
- * Design and develop EdTech tools and applications tailored to the specific needs of medical students, staff, and faculty.
- * Proactively identify, evaluate, and lead the adoption of emerging educational technology advancements to improve learning outcomes. Keep abreast of emerging technologies & trends in higher education by reviewing articles in journals, websites, and by attending classes, conferences, presentations.
- * Assist users in evaluating and selecting hardware and software to meet operational needs and with the implementation and application of selected solutions.
- * Partner with faculty to provide educational design support with a specific focus on integrating IT solutions into the curriculum.
- * Lead the implementation of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist faculty in curriculum design (e.g., drafting course materials, creating interactive clinical case studies, developing assessment tools). Evaluate and deploy AI tools to streamline and improve efficiency of the office. Assist with institutional guidelines and training for faculty, staff, and students on the ethical use of AI.
- * Follows and implements directives and guidance related to best practices from University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services.
- * Ensures the consistent adoption, implementation, and enforcement of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Service.
- * Keeps abreast of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Service, and takes timely action as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Professional Work Experience - Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Project Management, Learning Design & Technology, or STEM and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for desktop application support, web application support, user application support/help desk, and/or EdTech tools, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or equivalent education/training or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Considerable working knowledge of the use of computers for application development as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodology.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with application development, teaching, training, and/or learning with technology (e.g., educational technology).
- Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluation, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
- Proven ability to comprehend, interpret and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications - Proven track record of implementing automation or AI-driven solutions to improve organizational productivity.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages and web platforms.
- Strong understanding of system administration, security management, and systems optimization.
- Familiarity with Prompt Engineering, Large Language Model (LLM) architectures, and AI ethics in a healthcare/educational setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of emerging AI technologies and their practical application for institutional productivity and educational enhancement.
- Strong understanding of the principles of educational design, specifically as they relate to the integration and use of technology in a higher education or clinical environment.
- Strong understanding of IT service management, cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining IT best practices, standards, and governance.
Desirable Qualifications - Direct experience with medical education or curriculum management systems.
- Expertise in troubleshooting hardware and connectivity in distributed environments.
- Advance knowledge and experience with educational design.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with utilizing AI technologies for productivity and educational enhancement.
