Job Description 

Join our Team at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic, San Jose, CA as a Physician – Psychiatrist! 

Major duties include but are not limited to:
Clinical:

  • Evaluation and management of patients both face-to-face and by telehealth.
  1. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluation of patients in outpatient mental health clinics. The incumbent may also supervise trainees, including medical students and residents, in all of these settings.
  2. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. Instructs other personnel assigned to health care team on preventive medicine programs and other appropriate medical activities and functions.

Administrative:

  • Provide oversight and leadership for the clinical functions of staff and trainees associated with their treatment teams, including RNPs and clinical pharmacists.
  • Serve in hospital or service level committees such as Medication Management Committee or Pain Committee.
  • Supports and enhances VAPAHCS philosophy and goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring Research outcome studies are routinely conducted according to VAPAHCS policies and procedures. 
  • Expected Salary Range from $301,714 - $320,972 per year (negotiable based on candidate's qualifications, credentials and experience)
  • Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized
  • Work Schedule: Full-time. Schedule will be determined by supervisor
  • Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
  • Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
  • Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)

  • Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

  • Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
