Job description

The Writing Center on the Uintah Basin Campus seeks to fill a vacancy for all, spring, and/or summer semesters. The successful applicant will be expected to perform both face-to face tutoring as well as on-line live tutoring via http://distance.usu.edu/tutoring/.


  • This position involves helping students become better writers.
  • This position will require successful applicants to work an average of six hours per week as Writing Center peer responders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of English 1010 and 2010
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill as well as well as a desire to read and respond to student writing assignments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be familiar with (or willing to learn) on-line tutoring interface.
  • Exception listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision.
