Description
This is a year-round, part-time position.
Application deadline is August 9, 2026 with application review beginning August 10, 2026.
Shift Requirements:
Monday-Friday: 2 hour shift between the hours of 10am and 8pm.
Rotating Saturday approximately once a month from 10am to 2pm.
Responsible for supporting the circulation of library materials and maintaining an organized collection by conducting basic operation of the Automated Material Handling system (AMH) and sorting and shelving materials. Required evening and weekend hours.
Essential Job Functions
These responsibilities are examples of types of work performed and are not intended to be a complete list. The job description is subject to change as needs of the library change.
Material Handling and Circulation Support
  • Empty book drops and load returned materials onto the Automated Material Handling (AMH) system.
  • Unpack and load courier deliveries onto the AMH system.
  • Operate the AMH system, including responding to routine alarms and performing basic reset procedures for full bins or blocked sensors.
  • Inspect returned materials for completeness and condition.
  • Complete documentation for materials requiring billing due to damage or missing parts.
  • Sort materials from AMH bins onto carts for shelving.
  • Remove materials from the AMH exceptions bin and prepare them for check-in by other library staff.

Collection Maintenance
  • Shelve library materials accurately and efficiently according to established procedures.
  • Maintain orderly shelving areas and assist with keeping the collection organized.

Patron Services and Customer Support
  • Provide courteous interactions with patrons while referring service, reference or account questions to appropriate library staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patrons' use of library materials, programs and services.

Qualifications & Working Conditions
Minimum
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
Preferred
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with library work
  • Customer service experience
