Job Responsibilites
- Adheres to the spirit of Waterfall Community Health Center to remove barriers to care and our mission statement while performing assigned duties.
- Demonstrates the core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
- Obtains and records client s health history; performs comprehensive physical assessment (including biological, social, and psychological needs) as part of a total physical examination.
- Demonstrates substantial knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques.
- Diagnoses, treats, and plans appropriate health care for clients in the area of school-based health care, family planning, and primary care as appropriate; refers clients to specialty physicians and/or outside agencies as required.
- Demonstrates skillful knowledge of medicine techniques and procedures, medical and lab equipment, testing procedures, and medication.
- Educate and inform the patient of the necessary treatment plan and any follow-up appointments.
- Encourage preventative health measures including proper diet, rest, and exercise.
- Counsel patients about their health, providing advice about staying in good health, alleviating symptoms of chronic conditions, improving eating habits, and learning to break bad habits like smoking.
- Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose the medical condition of the patient.
- Provides and prescribes medications within the area of specialty.
- Performs laboratory procedures and interprets lab test results.
- Establishes and maintains client medical charts and other necessary records.
- Advance and maintain a personal knowledge base by pursuing continuing education to enhance professional competence.
- Demonstrates skill in diagnostic procedures for diseases and the drug therapy needed for the treatment of these medical conditions. Must be proficient in the use of medical and laboratory equipment.
- Participates in the Clinical Quality Improvement and Quality Management meetings and other meetings as requested by supervisor and/or Senior Leadership Team.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal tactfully and patiently with clients, establish, and maintain records, reports, and statistical data, use initiative and judgment, maintain effective working relationships with other related agencies, professionals, and citizen groups, perform and record total physical examinations.
- Promotes individual and organizational integrity by exhibiting ethical behavior to maintain high standards.
- Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to remain abreast with professional literature and current healthcare management trends and rules in FQCH regulation.
- Performs any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization s Values.
Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited school of medicine with a degree in Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), with a minimum of one year s experience, is desirable.
- Completion of Accredited Residency.
- Unrestricted License and Board Certified to practice medicine in the State of Oregon.
- Current DEA Certificate without restrictions.
- Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to be credentialed with Medicaid, Medicare, private and other insurance.
