Job description
Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Services, the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in various areas such as blood bank, microbiology, serology, chemistry, hematology, or urinalysis. Responsibilities include obtaining and processing specimens, conducting quality control procedures, interpreting results, and organizing work effectively to meet deadlines.
Core Job Responsibilities- Collects blood specimens using appropriate techniques and maintains specimen integrity
- Prepares and evaluates samples for analysis, following laboratory policies
- Reports test results accurately and promptly
- Recognizes and addresses errors in test results
- Conducts quality control procedures and maintains documentation
- Stays updated on healthcare advancements and new technologies
- Provides training and supervision to new personnel
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science with clinical training
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in laboratory work
Required:
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license
